The thought that Google would give me a platform to vent or plead a cause thrills me. Because of its unparalleled search engine, its Global reach, and sheer number of looks per whatever measure of time you want, Google is the most bully of pulpits I could ever hope for. So before I forget: THANK YOU GOOGLE for the fabulous opportunity.
There exists a very real possibility that no-one will ever read this Blog. Or worse, I could get un-friended by my Facebook community. Some of my views are shared by all of my friends. All my views might be shared by a friend or two, but I doubt anyone, friend or foe, sees eye to eye with me or opposes me 100 per cent of the time. My world wouldn't be very interesting if they did. I've listened to Rush Limbaugh. Watched Bill O'Rielley I've yelled at What's his face, Hannity. I'll listen to opinions contrary to mine, however wrong the might be. I've seen Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart make total jackasses out of themselves espousing some bleeding heart viewpoint or championing some ultra leftie idea. Most of what I say in this space will be expressions of real interest or passion concerning current affairs. Some topics might even be timeless. Some subjects will cause a stir for a day or two and vanish from the public consciousness. I won't promise every post will have any validity after a day or two after posting, but I hope the reader will think about what I've said on a topic and act on it if the words inspire (or inflame). This is not going to be feel-good place, it is intended to be my very own Hyde Park. There will be times that I play Devils Advocate. Those that know me very well are aware that I am not above expressing views in a very cold, cynical, matter of fact framework. I use hyperbole, strong language and see human foibles in light of the survival of the species. I tend to take the scientific approach to things and try to be analytical rather than be entrapped by emotions. If you are a liberal I'll sound conservative. To the far right, I may land on the left of Obama.
I have high expectations of my readers. I expect that you can read and write English although a response in Spanglish or Franglish won't be ignored. Not familiar with Spanglish?Watch a few hours of MTV Tres ( digital broadcast Chanel 40 in Phoenix and Kingman, Arizona. And I can remember enough of my High School French to parlez vous, but my French spelling has always been atrocious. And I can, albeit slowly read La Voz, and Paris Match. I am, in the end writing to a North American audience whose predominant language is English despite teabag claims otherwise. At least I think that's what they're saying. It would be a whole lot easier if the spoke English.
Upcoming topics will include Oil & spills, the southern border situation, the Arpaio witchhunt and handcuff campaign, Global warming and the economy, at least what's left of it. I have a few things to say about Global uncontrolled population growth and a smaller slice of the pie for everybody. Man is the only species, so far, on the earth, that might drive itself into extinction on its own without the pressure of predation or natural climate variations. Human behavior as a function of biological hard wire knee-jerk reactions and the obvious lack of reasoned behaviors. Arizona SB 1070, its political, economic, ethical and constitutional ramifictions , legalization of medical marijuana and taxation of it, and the outsourcing of part or all of any American company, and its ramifications on the company's profitability, its reduced tax burden, increased benefit or loss for Global and local economies. This is the short list. I'm aiming for 2-4 blogs per week. the best encouragement I could possibly have will be responst, positive or negative to the topic and the side of the argument I espouse.
Please keep in mind that complex issues usually have many sides and rarely can any be black or white. I will tell you now that I probably will call someone an idiot or moron or worse, I might inquire after your parents reproductive health. looking to see if they had any children that lived or survived with an IQ greater than 20. It is NOT a personal attack or attempt to ridicule, its merely an expression of how low an opinion have of your point of view. Intelligent men of good intent CAN disagree. an emai laced with vulgarities won't bother my thick skin. It will serve to demonstrate Your passion on an issue It will be easy to look past null descriptors if a point or two rises from the ashes. 40 lines of naught but obscenities without real content or substence will confuse us and we will revert to playing dumb, dumb, dumb. forgetting for a while my intent of a reply to every response that deserves an answer.
